We think about it all the time. Most songs, movies and books are about love.

We love love.

We daydream about a beautiful romance and the perfect partner, obsess over crushes, and swoon over attractive celebrities.

We should be good at it.

But somehow, in real life, love is kind of… disappointing.

We push and pull. We avoid. We neglect. We argue. We get heartbroken.

A relationship should be a beautiful thing full of love. That’s the whole point, isn’t it?

Yet, how many couples do you know who are genuinely happy in their relationship?

Personally, I don’t know that many… And five minutes on Reddit will leave you feeling like good relationships are a myth.

So, why are we so bad at love? Is this really it? Is love a fantasy?

I don’t think so.

You don’t need to accept failure or settle just yet. It is possible to build a beautiful relationship full of love.

We just need to learn to love better.

For all the mental energy we spend on our relationships, we spend surprisingly little time learning how to improve them.

Sure, we might pick up a lesson here or there about what to avoid in the future based on bad experiences but we can do better than that!

We put in so much time, thought and research into everything else in our lives.

Choosing a new laptop often takes longer than choosing a lifelong partner.

Your favourite podcaster probably gets more attention from you than your partner.

Doesn’t love deserve a little more effort?

What if we treated learning about love like a hobby or a research topic you’re genuinely curious about?

That’s the purpose of The Couple’s Book Club.

A space to learn about how to choose the right person for you and how to nurture the relationship you’re already in.

To be clear, I don’t have all the answers.

I’m also very bad at love.

But I want to be better at it. I want to learn.
